Nigeria’s leading audio-visual production company, Zero Degrees is set to premiere its first documentary film titled Awon Boyz on Saturday, 20th April at Genesis Deluxe Cinema, Lekki, Lagos. The event will see the production team members, as well as some of the cast present, giving its attendants the opportunity to interact first hand with the story and its characters.
Awon Boyz is a documentary that seeks to reform the negative stereotype that dismisses area boys as of area boys as violent thugs, harbingers of terror, often used for macabre tasks by unscrupulous politicians. Whilst that is a description of what they appear to be, it doesn’t tell the full story of how they came to be so. By delving into the backstories of the subjects featured in Awon Boyz, the film reveals the daily struggles of these men, their aspirations, dreams and insights into how they got to where they are today.
Speaking ahead of the premiere, the producer, Tolu Itegboje said; “In Awon Boyz we embarked on a journey to find the untold truths about area boys, also known as ‘Agbero’. By creating this documentary, we aim to change the unforgiving perceptive by holding up an unbiased mirror to the society so we can see just how much everyday people share similar values, hopes, fears and dreams with these people, who we are quick to write off.”
Zero Degrees is a member of the X3M Group of Companies with a strong client base across the food, entertainment, telecommunications and finance sectors. Some of its clients are Dangote Group, DSTV, 9Mobile, Fidelity Bank, among others.
