Nigerian Afrobeat maestro, Seun Kuti was nominated for the 61st Grammy Award in the World Music Album category and was also scheduled to perform at the prestigious ceremony.
The musician who eventually lost the awards to fierce competition, the Soweto Gospel Choir also failed to make an appearance on stage which got a lot of Nigerian fans confused.
But the Afrobeat star has come out in a post on Instagram to explain the reason for his no show on stage, blaming his absence on complication arising his travelling arrangements. According to Seun, there was a mix up with his tickets which caused him to miss his flight.
Seun, however, made it the ceremony, accompanied by his partner Yeide.

First and foremost I have to say I am sorry to all the fans that tuned in to see us perform yesterday but didn’t. I had the weirdest ticket mix up in history meaning I missed my flight and the rehearsals and we couldn’t go on. Big up to Soweto Gospel choir a group that has also inspired me. @fatoumata_diawara__ for holding down our show without me. @lekanbalogun1 @mccoyclothings for making us look really nice on that red carpet @versatilebay for @chefyeide clothes. @egypt80band and our entire team we must keep banging the door till they let us in!! #getthesax
