The 2018 winter Olympics opened to a colourful ceremony in the Korean city of Pyeongchang as North Korean and South Korean delegations marched together under one unified flag, the biggest sign yet of a detente after months of tensions over North Korea’s nuclear program.

Other big moments from the opening ceremony apart from the impressive display for the culture and technology of the host city were the presence of Kim Yo Jung, the sister of North Korea leader Kim Jong Un, US Vice President Mike Pence and other notable world leaders.

Nigeria is participating at the Winter Olympics for the first time, and they made a historic entrance to great cheers from the stadium. The Bobsled team — composed of athletes Seun Adigun, Akuoma Omeoga and Ngozi Onwumere — and Nigeria’s history-making skeleton athlete is Simidele Adeagbo.
