Nigerian women’s Bobsled team has qualified for 2018 winter Olympics which takes place at PyeonChang.
The team which comprises of Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere and Akuoma Omeoga became the first African team to qualify for bobsled category having completed five races required of them.
Led by driver Adigun, who is a former 100m hurdles champion and 2012 summer Olympian, the team completed races in Utah, Whistler and their final two races in Calgary on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
This is a big development for the Nigerian sports as it is the first time the country will be going for the winter olympics. Hopefully, it will usher in opportunities for winter sports in Nigeria.
